Global Constraints for Integer and Set Value Precedence

چکیده
The paper introduces value precedence on integer and set sequences. A useful application of the notion is in breaking symmetries of indistinguishable values, an important class of symmetries in practice. Although value precedence can be expressed straightforwardly using if-then constraints in existing constraint programming systems, the resulting formulation is inefficient both in terms of size and runtime. We present two propagation algorithms for implementing global constraints on value precedence in the integer and set domains. Besides conducting experiments to verify the feasibility and efficiency of our proposal, we characterize also the propagation level attained by various usages of the global constraints as well as the conditions when the constraints can be used consistently with other types of symmetry breaking constraints.

Multi-Objective Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling with Sequence-Dependent Setup Times and Precedence Constraints
This paper presents a novel, multi-objective model of a parallel machines scheduling problem that minimizes the number of tardy jobs and total completion time of all jobs. In this model, machines are considered as unrelated parallel units with different speeds. In addition, there is some precedence, relating the jobs with non-identical due dates and their ready times. Sequence-dependent setup t...
متن کاملSingle Machine Scheduling Problem with Precedence Constraints and Deteriorating Jobs
This paper considers the single machine scheduling problem with precedence constraints and deteriorating jobs. A mathematical model based on binary integer programming (BIP) is developed. By these precedence constraints, jobs can not start before completion of its all predecessors. The represented model is in two steps, in step one the earliest starting time of each job is computed, then the re...

In this paper, a due date assignment scheduling problem with precedence constraints and controllable processing times in uncertain environment is investigated, in which the basic processing time of each job is assumed to be the symmetric trapezoidal fuzzy number, and the linear resource consumption function is used. The objective is to minimize the crisp possibilistic mean (or expected) value of...
متن کاملExamples of new facets for the precedence constrained knapsack problem
We consider the polyhedral structure of the precedence constrained knapsack (PCK) problem, also known as the partially ordered knapsack problem. A set of items N is given, along with a partial order, or set of precedence relationships, on the items, denoted by S ⊆ N × N. A precedence relationship (i, j) ∈ S exists if item i can be placed in the knapsack only if item j is in the knapsack. Each i...
متن کاملGlobal optimization of mixed-integer polynomial programming problems: A new method based on Grobner Bases theory
Mixed-integer polynomial programming (MIPP) problems are one class of mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problems where objective function and constraints are restricted to the polynomial functions. Although the MINLP problem is NP-hard, in special cases such as MIPP problems, an efficient algorithm can be extended to solve it. In this research, we propose an algorit...
